Mealtime Table Talk for Families

Every day they devoted themselves to meeting together in the temple area and to breaking bread in their homes. They ate their meals with exultation and sincerity of heart, praising God and enjoying favor with all the people. –Acts of the Apostles 2:46-47a

Bring your bible and this print and fold-able ‘table tent’ (or your electronic device) to your dinner table with your family to discuss Sunday’s Gospel and how you can be the Body of Christ in the world.

Prayer before meals

Bless us, O Lord,
and these thy gifts which
we are about to receive from thy bounty,
through Christ, Our Lord.
Amen.

Eat the meal together. Have each family member respond to the following questions:

Where have I given kindness this week?
Where have I received kindness this week?

Together Read and Reflect on the Holy Day’s Gospel

May 23, 2021 Pentecost Sunday: John 20:19-23 or John 15:26-27; 16:12-15

Feel free to use your family bible or children’s bible. Be creative. Read it in parts. Act out the story.

What gift did Jesus give to the disciples to be able to do the work he has asked of them?
How do you know when the Holy Spirit is helping you?
Think of a time when you really felt the Holy Spirit working in your life. Tell that story.

Family Action Step

Go out into the world to be the Body of Christ. Choose an action for your family this week that brings Christ to others. Maybe it is an action inspired by your Gospel reflection.

Prayer after Meals

for all your gifts,
almighty God,
living and reigning
now and for ever.

Y cada día, el Señor acrecentaba la comunidad con aquellos que debían salvarse.” –Hechos de los Apóstoles 2: 46-47a

Traiga su Biblia y esta tarjeta a la mesa para meditar el Evangelio del Domingo y discernir cómo poder ser el Cuerpo de Cristo en el mundo con su familia.

Oración antes de los alimentos

Bendícenos, Señor,
y a estos tus dones que
estamos a punto de recibir de tu generosidad,
por Cristo, Nuestro Señor.
Amén

Coman juntos. Haga que cada miembro de la familia responda a las siguientes preguntas:

¿Dónde o a quién he dado bondad esta semana?
¿Dónde o de quién he recibido bondad esta semana?
